Urban sports, arts and (counter) culture film to debut soon in Kilkenny

Breaking Down Barriers Part 1: “Coming Soon” is an urban sports, arts & (counter) culture film by Kilkenny filmmaker, Isaac Burke.

It's set to debut at the Watergate Theatre on Thursday (December 14) as a benefit event for Teac Tom (supported by the Thomas Hayes Trust).

Journey alongside the film crew as they discover the multi-generational challenges and opportunities that inspired resilience and ingenuity in an urban sports and arts community to break down barriers and positively impact the cultural fabric of Kilkenny, which finally culminated with a top-class designed skatepark in the Abbey Quarter.

Through a 360-degree perspective, meet community, arts, sports & not-for-profit leaders and local influencers and creatives (including skateboarders, BMXers, rollerbladers, surfers, graffiti artists, musicians, animators and more).

These contributors drive positive change through creativity, mental health interventions and youth development in the lives of Ireland’s new multicultural community of changemakers.

Breaking Down Barriers includes interviews with Cllr Andrew McGuinness (Former Mayor of Kilkenny), Anne Barber (Vice President, Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce), Olga Barry (Director, Kilkenny Arts Festival), Joanna Cunningham (Executive Director, Watergate Theatre), Angela Hayes (CEO & Founder, The Thomas Hayes Trust), Nickey Brennan (35th President of the GAA), and others.
