Chantel Nash is performing at this year's festival
Tickets are selling out fast for shows at this year’s Kilkenny Cat Laughs Festival which takes place over the June bank holiday weekend.
Headline acts at this year’s festival include Joanne McNally, Des Bishop, Gearóid Farrelly, Karl Spain, Shane Todd, David O’Doherty and Chris Kent.
Almost 80% of the shows are now sold out with only a handful of tickets remaining for some shows.
Kilkenny Cat Laughs is Ireland’s annual craic pilgrimage, and has been heralding the start of the summer season since 1995.
Now in it’s 30th edition, the festival has played host over the years to international and domestic world class comedy and is renowned for treating both talent and audience to a warm, welcoming and convivial atmosphere in Kilkenny.
The Cat Laughs festival has a reputation for being the comedians’ comedy festival, and for creating an atmosphere where anything can happen. Over the years the festival has nurtured the fledgling careers of Irish acts like Dara Ó Briain, Aisling Bea, Graham Norton, Dylan Moran, Maeve Higgins, Ardal O’Hanlon, Joanne McNally, Deirdre O’Kane, David O’Doherty, Des Bishop and many, many more.
The festival has also welcomed international luminaries like Bill Murray, Zach Galifianakis, Laura Kightlinger, Bill Burr, George Wendt, Ross Noble, Peter Kay, Bill Bailey, Tig Notaro, Emo Philips and Sarah Millican among others. This year the festival welcomes 37 comedians to Kilkenny including 18 fresh debut acts!
There is still limited availability for the opening show Chris Kent and friends at the Set Theatre on Friday at 6pm. The Nine Lives Show featuring Dara O’Briain, Kyrah Gray, Louise Young, Neil Delamere, Chantel Nash, Eleanor Tiernan, Shane Clifford and Stephen Mullan is now sold out.
Organisers are also keen to promote sustainability and are striving to make the festival as green as possible. Festival goers are encouraged to walk, cycle and use public transport where possible and to avoid single use plastic.
The Cat Laughs takes place from May 31 to June 3 at venues across Kilkenny.
