Kilkenny venues to host exhibitions by local artists

Spaces across the city and county will become home to the work of numerous artists who will showcase their work as part of Alternative Kilkenny Arts.

The Bennettsbridge Art Group, a 12-strong art group who meet once a week, will hold an exhibition which will open on Friday and runs until August 18. Theie Summer Collection will incorporates various media, including watercolour, collage, pastel, acrylic and oils. Artists taking part are, Marie Griffin, Tom Barrett, Joan Cleere, Mary King, Mary Dunny, Elma Khareghani, Marion Murphy, Una Gibbons, Lin Cowley, Daphne Hunt, Fionnuala Lynch and Olga Hrusha.

This year the artists remember the late Mos Kharaghani who passed away during the year. Mos contributed greatly to the success of the art group.

Meanwhile Marie Langton and Ellen Duggan will also exhibit their works at the Ormonde Hotel from August 10 to 18 from 11am to 5.30pm . Marie’s exhibition iss called ‘Symphony of Colour’ and includes some very large studies of Bog Cotton and Peonies as well as Seascapes and Lighthouses conveying mood with colour.

Ellen Duggan’s exhibition is called ‘In Limbo’ and reflects on her floating life over the past year.
