Kilkenny writer's debut novel in running for top gong

Kilkenny writer Niamh Mulvey has been shortlisted for a prestigious An Post Irish Book Award for her bestselling novel The Amendments.

The Amendments is a sweeping family saga which tells the story of three Irish women and their struggles to find love, meaning and freedom against a backdrop of enormous social and cultural change as Ireland marks time with a series of abortion referendums.

The public can vote to support Niamh's book which is in the Newcomer of the Year Category at irishbookawards.ie

The awards will take place at a ceremony in Dublin on November 27. Other shortlisted authors include: Kevin Barry, Sally Rooney and Colm Tóibín.

Voting closes at 5pm on November 14.
