Kilkenny cathedral to host Coldplay-inspired concerts

An international orchestra will be performing two concerts inspired by Coldplay at St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny on March 28 under Luke Jerram’s giant suspended moon installation.

OneOrchestra Group will be presenting Moon Music, an orchestral reimagining of Coldplay’s most iconic songs set beneath Jerram’s ‘Museum of the Moon’ for two spectacular concerts which merge orchestral music with visual art to create a rare, immersive experience.

The concerts in Kilkenny will be the last stop of OneOrchestra’s European Moon tour, which will have its first performance in Segovia Cathedral, Spain next month.

"Coldplay’s music speaks to something universal," says Michael Amadi, founder of OneOrchestra Group. "With Moon Music, we bring that connection to life through orchestral sound. It’s an immersive experience, where every note is amplified by the energy of the space, creating a moment that feels unforgettable."

Considering that the company specialise in immersive musical experiences, Michael was passionate about collaborating with beautiful venues to bring his music and vision to life:

“We are so excited to perform at St Canice’s. The cathedral’s breathtaking architecture, its magnificent Steinway piano, and the awe-inspiring presence of the giant moon create a truly magical setting for this concert."

The historic St Canice’s Cathedral provides the perfect setting for this event as its acoustics combined with Jerram’s stunning lunar installation create a captivating visual and auditory experience. This will be the first time Jerram’s seven-metre-wide installation has visited Kilkenny.

OneOrchestra has collaborated with critically acclaimed artists such as Freya Ridings and Peter Sandberg. Michael has performed on some of the world’s most renowned stages, including the Royal Albert Hall, had his compositions performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, had his work featured in Vogue, and even played for Chris Martin himself.

This performance is not just a concert: it is a complete sensory experience, where the music, setting and atmosphere come together to create something truly special.

Tickets are available online at Event Brite or from the official OneOrchestra website
