In this open-air concert in the heart of Kilkenny City, audiences will experience a special screening of short films
As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Alternative Kilkenny Arts Festival (AKA Fringe), the Irish Composers’ Collective (ICC) will present a unique live performance event on Sunday, August 10 at 8.30pm.
In this open-air concert in the heart of Kilkenny City, audiences will experience a special screening of short films—including works by independent animators and Cartoon Saloon—brought to life with brand-new musical scores performed live by an ensemble of seven composer-performers from the ICC.
Each film will be paired with an original score, composed specifically for this event. The result is a fresh and immersive way to experience animation and short film—where sound and story unfold together, live and in real time.

This collaborative project honours both the filmmaker’s vision and the composer’s creative response, with an approach that is imaginative, respectful, and artistically adventurous. The event will take place outdoors, with space for up to 300 audience members. In the case of inclement weather, the event will move to a nearby indoor venue with limited capacity.
Join for an evening of cinematic wonder, live music, and creative collaboration—a celebration of Kilkenny’s vibrant artistic community and the possibilities of shared storytelling.
When: Sunday, August 10 at 8.30pm
Where: Canal Square (indoor venue backup in case of rain)
Admission: Free
