Kilkenny native Kathy Long will release her new single, West, this Friday.

The song is a reflection on days shared with friends in the west of Ireland, inspired by the landscape of the Burren and the Atlantic Ocean.

The lyrics are carried by a strong fiddle build and the song is also a collaboration with Norwegian artists including the Bergen-based producer Jorn Lavoll.

Long is currently recording her first album while performing at various venues around Europe and took to the stage at electric picnic in 2023.

Her most recent singles, June and Glow Gold, gained considerable traction from Irish and UK radio as well as being featured in Hot Press, District Magazine, RTE and more.

She has recently moved to Bergen, Norway where she will be working with Norwegian producers to finish the final tracks of her debut EP.

The EP will be a musical reflection of the elements - fire, air, earth and water with West being the earth element of the project.
