Three internationally recognised Kilkenny artists are included in Sheppard's Irish and International art auction on Tuesday, September 16 in Durrow.
Mildred Anne Butler (1858–1941) lived her entire life outside Thomastown in a majestic period home complete with artificial lake, Kilmurry House, was one of Ireland’s first professional women artists. Butler’s paintings of Kilmurry and its environs combine accuracy of drawing, startling light effects, and a sense of immediacy.
Butler’s large-scale watercolours also highlight her exceptional skill in the painting of flowers, trees, animals and birds. Lot 191, 'The Coastal Path' and Lot 221, Primroses have attracted much attention before the sale. TAP HERE FOR MORE KILKENNY ARTS NEWS
