Dressed To Get Messed returned after a 30+ year hiatus last year, joined by the magnificent Rory Broderick on keys
One of Kilkenny’s most acclaimed live music bars is to feature what many are describing as the ‘comeback of the decade’ this coming Saturday night with the highly anticipated second reunion of Dressed To Get Messed.
Its been a quick 12 months since the infamous night on Friary Street that saw Ryan's Bar packed to the rafters with music lovers from all over to witness the triumphant return of a band that dominated the local music scene in the mid-80s. The night proved that the band still have what it takes to turn up the heat in any venue and this time they were louder than ever. The gig was so well received that the band sold out of a limited run of exclusive t-shirts and people demanding a quick return for another show.

Formed in the autumn of 1985, the crew crammed more chaos, carnage, and pure rock ’n’ roll into four years than most bands could dream of in a lifetime. Fronted by the charismatic fireball Pee Burns and powered by the explosive lineup of Rolo Foley (bass), Kaylo McInerney (drums), Kieran Phelan (guitar), and Shinny Dowling (sax & harmonica) — The Messed weren’t just a band, they were part of a local movement that saw venues like the Newpark Inn and Hendersons heaving with excitement.

The Messed were well known for their high energy, sweat-drenched live shows nights from local venues to headlining the Beat on the Street in front of 4,000 fans with Kilkenny Castle as their backdrop.
The band also took their wild energy abroad, touring Belgium alongside the brilliant Homesick n’ The Backstabbers, spreading Kilkenny rock ’n’ roll to European crowds hungry for the madness.
Championed by the legendary Dave Fanning, and sharing stages with Something Happens and The Stunning at the height of their fame, The Messed carved their name into Irish rock history without the aid of social media or viral internet videos.
Dressed To Ge Messed returned after a 30+ year hiatus last year, joined by the magnificent Rory Broderick on keys, the show was so good, so packed and so exciting, that the band decided to come back for seconds — proving that real legends never die.
