Kilkenny set to rock this summer with another big signing made for major concert series

Northern Irish rock trio Ash will perform at the Live at Castle Mills shows in the city this July
Kilkenny’s newest concert series will get a helping of power-packed Irish rock as Ash have joined the Live at Castle Mills bill.
Ash will perform alongside headliner Public Image Ltd (PiL) and special guests Kerbdog, promising a must-see night of live music in the heart of Kilkenny City on Friday, July 17.
Three decades into a career peppered with timeless indiepunk nuggets and wildly inventive gigging and releasing concepts, thunderous trio Ash show no sign of slowing down.
With two Top 20 albums in the past three years, the Northern Irish band have cemented their status as one of the country’s most enduring and dynamic live acts. Celebrated for their electrifying performances and timeless hits including Girl from Mars, Shining Light and Burn Baby Burn, Ash step forward with their latest album Ad Astra - featuring 11 new tracks that fuse indie sensibilities with sleek electro-pop - as a band who live for live music.
As if creating this lovingly optimistic opus wasn’t enough to be cracking on with, Ash have kept themselves busy elsewhere. Alongside squeezing in a show at Kilkenny’s own Set Theatre they’ve run riot at SXSW in Austin, played Belfast for Steve Lamacq at Independent Venue Week, toured Down Under, headlined the 100 Club for BRITsweek, played a rammed Other Stage tent at Latitude, amassed the masses at Glastonbury for the eighth time last year and toured the UK with fellow rocksters The Darkness.
Live at Castle Mills event has been launched in partnership with the Kilkenny Nighttime Economy initiative, taking the opportunity to show Kilkenny’s vibrant, diverse and unique evening and late night cultural scene. The venue is within easy walking distance of Kilkenny City centre.
PiL with special guests Ash and Kerbdog play Live At Castle Mills, Kilkenny on Friday, July 17, while Matt Berninger with special guests Lisa O’Neill and Engine Alley play Live At Castle Mills, Kilkenny on Saturday, July 1.
