Michael Lowry TD
There has been much talk across Kilkenny and Tipperary following the publication of the Electoral Commission review.
The restored constituency of Tipperary North is set to include parts of the County Kilkenny including Urlingford, Johnstown and Freshford.
Tipperary TD Michael Lowry says that he empathises with the people of Kilkenny following the announcement.
"They are feeling the same sense of apprehension as we felt when parts of North Tipperary were separated prior to the last election," he said.
"Many of those that I have spoken with are in total disbelief at this decision. Kilkenny is a strong, proud and united county. Taking a section of the county away creates a sense of separation for those impacted by this decision.
"They feel disenfranchised, just as the people of Birdhill, Kilcomenty and Newport did prior to the last election. Feelings that we are familiar with in North Tipperary.
"Those I have spoken with are amazed at the Electoral Commission's decision. While the logistics of the decision are clear, the realities moving forward are matters where reassurance is required and I look forward to meeting them and hearing their views firsthand".
