The North Quays project linking Ferrybank and Waterford City continues to progress well, as noted in a recent report from the project team presented to Kilkenny County Council.

The substructure works for the sustainable transport bridge are continuing in the River Suir.

The Skerchi barge has relocated to the north side of the river to progress construction on the northern cofferdam.

The fabrication of the bridge superstructure is progressing in Belgium with over 10,000 work hours per month being expended on its fabrication.

On the Ferrybank side of the River Suir, all the piling for the new transport hub building and platforms is substantially complete.

The remainder of the foundation works are nearing completion.

Irish Rail are also continuing to install a new rail track to the south of the existing rail track.

Overall road and access infrastructure is progressing in the area.

Traffic management measures continue to be in place along Dock Road to install sewer and surface water network services.

The two pump station contracts are approximately 90% complete, but the programme has been extended into Q2, 2024.

The project engineers appointed for the flood defence west scheme are ROD Consulting Engineers.

They have progressed the scheme’s scope and programme, which will be constructed to the west of Plunkett Station.
