May and family presented a Memorial Cup to the Order of Malta before the start of racing at the recent Gowran Park meeting
A committed public and community man is to be posthumously remembered with a memorial cup presented by the Order of Malta.
Following on from his retirement on the outdoor staff of Kilkenny County Council, John Shortall PC of Harristown, Graignamanagh took up the important voluntary position of IT Officer in Charge of Kilkenny Order of Malta.
Sadly, John passed away on January 28, 2021. To mark the occasion of his first anniversary his wife May and family presented a Memorial Cup to the Order of Malta before the start of racing at the recent Gowran Park meeting.
John was a very popular Officer in Charge with the volunteer members and was widely known for his first aid training across numerous communities and organisations throughout the city and county of Kilkenny.
The cup will be presented by the Order of Malta to an outstanding member each year in honour of John's memory.
