Michael Lyng Motors has once again cemented its position as a leader in the Kilkenny automotive market, kicking off 2025 with remarkable success in both passenger car and commercial vehicle sales.
This latest achievement comes fresh off the back of their success at the Kilkenny Business Awards last November, where they scooped the award for 2024 Kilkenny Business of the Year.
For the month of January, Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai secured the number one spot for new passenger car registrations in Kilkenny, claiming an impressive 15.1% share of the market.
In the commercial vehicle sector, Michael Lyng Motors Ford dominated the light commercial vehicle market in Kilkenny, achieving a commanding 31.7% market share. Managing Director, Michael Lyng, expressed his delight at their recent success:
“We had a great month sales-wise; it was an exceptionally busy month for us, one of the best we’ve ever had,” he said. “We’re lucky to have these two fantastic brands to offer.”
Adding to the celebrations, the Hyundai Tucson was officially named the best-selling car in Kilkenny for January 2025. This SUV’s combination of stylish design, advanced technology, and efficiency has clearly resonated with local buyers, further solidifying its status as Ireland’s favourite car.
The new Tucson Plug-in Hybrid Platinum spec with a panoramic sunroof has proven to be extremely popular, offering an elevated driving experience with enhanced sustainability and luxury.
“We’re lucky with the Hyundai brand because it offers a range of petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric,” he added. “There’s a car for everybody in the Hyundai range.”

Michael Lyng Motors accredits its outstanding performance in both passenger and commercial vehicle sales last month to its commitment to excellence and the strong relationships it has built with its customers over the years.
