It’s the beginning of a new era for Taxback International as the Clunetech company officially rebrands to Fintua.

A global business, founded almost 30 years ago by Terry Clune, Fintua works with some of the biggest companies in the world, such as Meta, IBM, and Proctor & Gamble. The business has evolved from a VAT reclaim service provider in the early days into a global leader in the fintech industry.

The company, headquartered in Kilkenny, has a long history of hiring and developing local talent across the South-East and beyond. As part of that commitment to nurturing local talent they have just announced the launch of a new Sales Academy, headed up by Kilkenny senior hurling manager Derek Lyng.

“Derek’s reputation on the pitch, both as a player and manager, speaks for itself. However, Derek also has a lot of experience in mentoring and coaching within the business environment, and the combination of both was what made him the ideal candidate to head-up this exciting new initiative,” said Catherine Quirke, CEO, Fintua.

The academy is aimed at attracting candidates who are passionate about sales and want to develop their careers in a fast-growing, global fintech business. Whether candidates are looking to hone their existing skills, or are considering a change of career, and have the right attributes to become a successful salesperson, Fintua wants to hear from you.

“We’re not so much looking for candidates with lots of sales experience, rather motivated individuals, who are extremely pro-active with a can-do attitude. We are looking for people who are hungry to succeed in a dynamic, fast growing, global business,” said Catherine.

Catherine gave some insights into the reasoning for the rebrand: “Fintua is a bold new brand that reflects who we are now, in terms of the value we bring to our clients and partners; but most importantly where we're going next. This change reflects our years of transformation in becoming a global leader in indirect tax compliance, eInvoicing, VAT reclaim and global payments.

"The name Fintua represents our progress and the power of transformation; the values that have guided our team and our technology as we help some of the world's biggest businesses navigate huge changes in the fintech landscape. What hasn't changed is our commitment: to our people, our culture, to our clients and partners. This is way more than just a rebrand - it's the next chapter in our story.”CLICK HERE TO READ MORE KILKENNY BUSINESS NEWS

Derek Lyng told the Kilkenny People that the opportunity to join a winning team is within grasp for driven team-players.

“The vision for the Sales Academy is to create a programme that not only teaches technical sales skills but also nurtures future leaders, so we’re looking at mindset, leadership and we want to continue that sense of community within the company as well,” he said.

“The opportunity is there, right through from young people to graduates and to people who have commercial experience. We’re looking for a really good attitude and people who want to work in a company that has a real sense of community about it as well,” he said. READ NEXT: Double win for Kilkenny company Taxback at the Irish Accountancy Awards 2025

“The same discipline, the resilience, that team spirit that you develop in sport you know is directly applicable to building a successful team and it's no different here at Fintua. That sense of community, a place where people feel that they're supported, that they're continuously learning and they're challenged is what the company represents and is why I’m so excited to be part of this journey.

“We welcome anyone with a passion for success, a hunger to learn, and can-do attitude to apply at recruit@clunetech.com.”
