Mary McEvoy
A US-based Kilkenny woman is being honoured by a New York business association for her ‘visionary leadership’.
Mary McEvoy is originally from the city and has worked with international soft drinks giant PepsiCo since the late 1990s. She currently holds the role of Vice President, Commodities Global Procurement, PepsiCo.
Now Mary is being recognised for her ‘exceptional leadership, advocacy and commitment to building inclusive business ecosystems’ by WBEC Metro.
The Women’s Business Enterprise Council of New York is an American, national non-profit organisation dedicated to helping women-owned and small businesses thrive.
Ms McEvoy holds the position of chair of the New York group’s executive committee.
“Mary has provided steady guidance and critically valuable direction and insights for many years as she served on the WBEC NY DMV Board, and for that we are incredibly grateful. Thank you, Mary, for your visionary leadership that continues to expand access, inclusion, and opportunities for women-owned businesses!” the organisation said, announcing she is this year’s recipient of the President’s Award.
Formerly of Michael Street in Kilkenny City, Mary is the daughter of Breda and the late Dan McEvoy.
Mary was educated at the Lake School, Loreto Secondary School, and DIT Kevin Street, where she obtained a BSc in Physics and Chemistry from Trinity College. In her younger days, she was a keen athlete with Kilkenny City Harriers and played camogie with Dicksboro.
