Anticipation is growing ahead of an opening date for Kilkenny's newest late bar

'Same walls, new keys' - new late bar set to open in Kilkenny City later this year

Kilkenny is set to welcome a new late bar to the city centre with works at a progressed stage.

McSorley's is scheduled to open on 61 John Street Upper later this year following months of the building being closed to the public.

Interior works are currently being carried out with a precise opening date not yet known.

Over seven years, Brogan's proved to be a popular night-life destination at the same location.

Owned by Bernard Brogan, the holder of five senior All Ireland football medals, the business opened its doors for the first time in December 2017.

Bernard's parents, Bernard snr and Marie lived in Kilkenny in the 1970s and Bernard snr, who also won All Ireland medals with Dublin, trained with the Kilkenny team at that time

Now, ahead of a new chapter for the unit, a video released online  teased McSorley's opening, stating, "Same walls… New keys..."
