Closed: EuroGiant in Kilkenny City
It's the end of an era for a well-known retailer in Kilkenny as EuroGiant have ceased trading at their outlet on High Street.
For many years, EuroGiant operated in the heart of the city and the staff who worked there had a superb reputation for being friendly and polite, even when under pressure.
The closure in Kilkenny follows the announcement last month that the EuroGiant chain entered liquidation.
A printed notice on Kilkenny outlet's window back in Febraury explained that joint provisional liquidators were appointed to Euro General Retail Ltd and Bushgrove Ltd (trading as “Eurogiant”).

Following that announcement, a series of liquidation sales were held in the outlet, in a bid to sell off stock.
EuroGiant in Kilkenny officially closed its doors on Monday, March 16 and staff have since left a note on the door thanking customers for their support over the years and that they are no longer trading.
"We are closed and no longer trading," the note reads.
"Thank you for your support over the years. - The team at EuroGiant Kilkenny."

EuroGiant began as a single store in Dublin and grew to 77 company-owned stores all over the country, employing approximately 500-600 staff.
A spokesperson from EuroGiant cited 'rising costs, including rent and day-to-day operating expenses, along with increased competition in the retail sector' as reasons behind the non-viability of the business.
