Kilkenny Castle and Deputy John Paul Phelan’s general election campaign are among the nominees for the 2012 Bord Gais Energy Social Media Awards.
The Kilkenny Castle Mobile Guide and Tour, which is available for download at http://itunes.apple.com/ie/app/kilkenny-castle-mobile-tour/id480994819?mt=8, is nominated in the category of Best Mobile App (Marketing).
The free app was launched last December and includes both a virtual tour of the castle’s 20 rooms and a regularly updated calendar of events in the castle, Parade Tower and Butler Gallery. The information is included in English and Irish, and to make it easier for people to download the app, free WiFi is available in the castle’s reception area.
The John Paul Phelan General Election Campaign is nominated in the category Best Use of Social Media in an Election. In addition to having a Facebook page, the TD is an active contributor on Twitter and has 1,528 followers.
Also in the South East, Beat 102-103 is nominated in the Facebook category for its presence at http://www.facebook.com/beat102103.
The winners of the 2012 Bord Gais Energy Social Media Awards will be announced in a ceremony in Dublin’s Mansion House on May 17. The overall nominations were narrowed down to the short lists in each category by a group of 100 judges.
