New manager announced at iconic Kilkenny hotel

Peter Wilson has been formally announced as Avalon House Hotel General Manager as they join Original Irish Hotels.

The four-star boutique hotel in Castlecomer recently underwent a €4 million redevelopment ensuring that every historic detail of the property was restored and where new elements have been added they have been done so sympathetically to the original period and architecture.

The result is an exquisite 30-bedroom country idyl offering guests a luxurious haven yet just twenty minutes from Kilkenny City.

Peter, a seasoned hotelier, has a wealth of hospitality experience spanning over 30 years.

Before joining the Avalon House Hotel team, Peter has an extensive career having managed many outstanding four and five-star properties, including, The Kilkenny Rivercourt Hotel, Clayton Whites in Wexford, Mount Juliet Estate and Lyrath Estate Hotel.

Peter says he is thrilled to join the Comerford family business and looks forward to continuing to develop Avalon House Hotel in the future.

Avalon House Hotel is located in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny, it features 30 restful and beautifully decorated bedrooms overlooking the quaint countryside of County Kilkenny.

A 150 seater ballroom, a magnificent courtyard complete with an adjoining bar which has a retractable roof along with a house restaurant, hotel bar and an event and wedding ceremony venue housed in what was the town’s old fire station, which sits on the site of Avalon House Hotel.
