Kilkenny retailer Folkster won the Fashion Retail Award category at the Power of Women Awards

Kilkenny fashion retailer, Folkster won the Fashion Retail category at the Eir Power of Women Awards on Friday, November 18.

Folkster was founded in 2008 by fashion stylist Hennessy, who set out with the idea to create a bohemian treasure trove of a store combined with the highest standard of customer service and styling.

Starting out as a small vintage store in Co. Kilkenny, with just Blanaid and her immediate family, now 14 years later, they have grown to over 50 team members across Dublin, Kilkenny and also online on www.folkster.com.

Folkster is now known as an established fashion business  that now also designs and creates their own occasion wear responsibly in hand with their Spanish and Indian production partners.

On Folkster’s Instagram Blanaid said: “We won an award for Fashion RetaiI! I was genuinely 100% shocked to the floor and core. I could not believe it, and really thought I was going to freeze onstage … I managed to thank our incredible Folkster team, my supportive family, and of course VIP, Vicki and the main sponsor, Eir. I was also telling them what good timing it was seeing as it has been a hard few years with Covid and we really needed the boost.

“I’m so grateful for the support of our customers - and your belief in Folkster and our team and journey has led to this amazing milestone in our story. We all thank you sincerely, and are so beyond grateful for this honour.”

The Fashion Retail Award sponsored by Lindt is to celebrate Irish fashion businesses founded by women across the spectrum of design and influence
