The Steppes Bar in Callan will reopen on Friday, May 3 at 7pm after a lengthy closure.
The premises, owned by Alice and Eddie Kelly on Green Street, has been closed since last July after an electrical fault caused a fire on a busy Saturday afternoon.
After inspection by the fire officer, the doors were closed in order to allow an upgrade of all electrics. Closing their business was bad enough for the Kellys but, as they also lived over the premises, they also had to vacate their home with their good friend Marty Mulhall at Poulacapple coming to their rescue, taking them in.
