"Gardai in Callan, like all members stationed in some of our older buildings sometimes come across unusual sights," a garda post read on social media.
"A few weeks ago though, our lads discovered uninvited guests when they came across a Robin and a nest full of eggs. So what was required was an impromptu roster to be set up to monitor and care for the visitors.

"The lads were delighted when eggs became hatchings and are still enjoying the company," the post added.
"She nested between the woman's toilet window and the bars as the old cells were converted into toilets.
"Sometimes it's the little things," they concluded.
