Hollywood legend, Liam Neeson
A County Kilkenny town played a significant role in the making of a major movie in 2004.
'Breakfast on Pluto,' written and directed by Neil Jordan, based on the novel by Patrick McCabe, began filming in Callan in September 2004 following weeks of hype and excitement amongst locals in the town.

The Catholic Diocese of Ossory granted permission for the parish church in the town to be used in the filming despite being deemed somewhat controversial at the time as the lead character 'Kitten' played by Cillian Murphy was born following an illicit affair between a parish priest and his housekeeper. The role of the parish priest was played by Liam Neeson.
