Callan goes to the 'Oskars'

Fancy taking part in something totally different, something never been done before in Callan or Kilkenny?

Join with the John Lockes GAA club and Kevin Rowe Events and star in one of seven iconic short movies, shot on location in Callan, then to be shown at a gala Oskars night on 28th October in The Hub, Cilín Hill. Be in the running for best actor, best movie and many more coveted statues in the night.


In the coming weeks, members of the club, the ladies football club, juvenile club and the camogie club will be openly canvassing and recruiting Callan people to star in the movies and take part in this unique community event.

So, are you the next 'Fr. Ted', 'Sharon Curley' from the snapper, 'Andy Dufresne' from the Shawshank Redemption, or 'The Bull McCabe' from the Field? To find out more come along to our information evening on Monday, July 30, at 8pm, or contact 086-8166749.


Casting for the movies will takes place on Monday, August 20, actors will receive four weeks drama coaching from a professional actor, and shooting of the movies will take place over two weekends in early March.


Unlike a Strictly Dance or Lip Sync show, the pressure is off participants then. They can relax, enjoy the night and wait in anticipation to see their name in lights, and take home one of seven golden statues up for grabs. Go on - Sign up today!
