Book cover of 'A Lethal Legacy'
A Kilkenny historian has announced the publication of his new book.
Using moments of gruesome history to focus on important moments of Irish history, 'A Lethal Legacy - A History of Ireland in 18 Murders' is Irish history with a twist.
While the stories are centred on 18 murders, the book sets them in the wider Irish historical context, bringing the stories of ordinary people to the fore, looking at how they lived and change history.
Author Fin Dwyer, from Castlecomer, is renowned for his Irish History podcast. This book will be published in September and is available for pre-order now.

Publisher at HarperCollins Ireland Conor Nagle said that through his magnificent work on the Irish History Podcast, Fin Dwyer has cultivated an enormous, generation-spanning audience that has helped reinvigorate the field of Irish history.
“The hallmarks of his style have long been a willingness to approach the familiar subjects from fresh and innovative perspectives, as well as a keen eye for telling detail. In A Lethal Legacy, he brings those qualities to bear on the question of murder – eighteen incidents, to be specific – and the role it has played both in propelling and revealing the roots of social change in Ireland over the past two hundred years.
“Thought-provoking, innovative, often remarkably compassionate and deeply entertaining, it’s a history of modern Ireland unlike any other.”
