Kilkenny man narrowly misses out on winning Bachelor Festival

Kilkenny's John Coady narrowly missed out on winning the 'Westmeath Bachelor Festival' title last weekend, as Westmeath man Ciaran Clarke took the crown.

The event consisted of six bachelors showcasing their talents in front of judges; Louis Walsh, Anne Doyle, Pippa O’Connor and Brian Ormond in Mullingar on Saturday night last.

The competition named, 'You're Such a Good-Looking Woman,' after the late singer and Mullingar native Joe Dolan, brought those in attendance much entertainment as Coady, a Castlecomer native, put in an impressive performance entertaining the audience with his John Travolta dancing impression with songs from the movie Grease.

Judge Pippa O'Connor was very impressed with John's performance, saying: "Your effort is amazing, I genuine like you and you’re a great all round guy."

The evening was presented by Shane Barkey and Sarah Jane Foster, while country star Cliona Hagan kept the audience entertained as the judges spent time behind closed doors deliberating on this year’s winner.
