Scenes from last year's climb of Croagh Patrick
Erin’s Own GAA club Castlecomer in Kilkenny will once again be scaling the heights of Croagh Patrick in aid of a good cause on March 8.
Since this annual tradition began in 2011, the club has raised over €300,000 to date for various local causes. They have also raised funds in the past for Crumlin Children’s Hospital and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in Dunmore East.
This year’s beneficiary is Vision Sports Ireland, the National Governing Body for sport and leisure activities for blind and visually impaired people in Ireland. The cause was nominated by an Erin’s Own player who suffered a serious eye injury and availed of their services.
Their aim is to ensure that all blind and visually impaired people in Ireland have access to and can enjoy the health benefits derived from regular participation in sport and physical activities of their choice.
The club have also organised a GoFundMe online for anyone who wishes to donate.
