Loads of events in the north of the county this Christmas season
Santa Claus will be coming to Gathabawn next weekend - on November 26.
There will be a kids' disco, hot chocolate, mulled wine, treats and tasty burgers. Santa will be arriving on his sleigh and turning on the village Christmas lights at 4pm. Adults €5, children are free, and the event is in aid of Creenkill National School.
In Lisdowney, the parish Christmas dinner and party (in conjunction with Conahy and Ballyragget) will be held in the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow on December 6.
Also in north Kilkenny, the Vocem Daru Choir is one of the many top attractions coming to Ballyragget this festive season, featuring at Ballyragget Church concert on Friday, November 24, from 7.30pm. The concert, in memory of Geraldine Murphy, will feature the Castlecomer Male Voice Choir, Ballyragget girls' school choir, Fr Eamonn O' Gorman, the Deenside Minstrels, and Ballyragget Church Choir.
Meanwhile, in Johnstown, there will be a Christmas market at St Kieran's Hall, in conjunction with the switching on of the Christmas lights on the square. All proceeds are in aid of the proposed playground and garden.
The committee would appreciate any used gifts, toys, bric-a-brac, and more. Donations can be left into the hall on December 25, from noon to 2pm or into Morrissey's shop.
