On St Stephen’s Day, the South Kilkenny Historical Society will organise a Wren Day based on the old tradition of groups being out around the area, playing traditional music and singing.
In times past it included setting out to capture a wren which was said to bring good luck.
In an effort to revive the traditional Wren Day, the Society are asking people to come in made up costumes if they wish and to participate by singing, playing or just accompanying the group as it moves.
The emphasis is on participation, fun and enjoyment.
