New look Kilkenny Yearbook hits the shelves across the county this week

The much anticipated Kilkenny Yearbook 2024 has officially hit the shelves across Kilkenny city and county.

Produced by the hard-working team at the Kilkenny People and Kilkenny Live, this publication will both delight and inform readers over the festive season.

The pages within delve into local history, heritage and legend, bringing some wonderful stories to life.

Read about the success of the Savour Festival; of the Smithwick's Experience as it marks 10 years; of family businesses which continue to thrive after generations.

Hear from author Orla Mackey on her debut novel; from renowned local historians, and a veteran of the famous Jadotville siege.

Dive back through time to read the fascinating story of the 1921 Kilkenny jailbreak, or the chilling saga of the Petronella/Kyteler witch trial, which occurred 700 years ago this year.

Of course sporting achievements will be the highlight of the year for many, with pride of place going to the likes of Mia Griffin, who took part in the Olympics and won Rás na mBán on home territory.

Things didn't go to plan for the Cats in this year's All-Ireland journey, but there's plenty to reflect on and take stock.

Meanwhile, it's certainly been a year to remember for Thomastown, our new senior county champions.

We also look back over the year pictorially, with pages of photographs from events that took place all around the county in 2024.

The Yearbook also features a host of festive related articles from quirky stories to cookery tips. Quizzes - on news, sport, and movies will entertain and puzzle.
