Mark your calendars! Yulefest Kilkenny - one of Ireland’s biggest Christmas festivals - returns from Saturday, November 28 to Wednesday, December 23, 2026.

From family-friendly activities to seasonal shopping, there’s something for everyone, bringing Christmas magic to all of Kilkenny.

The festivities will officially kick off from 2pm on Saturday (November 28) marked by Santa’s arrival along the River Nore by boat.

Star of The Late Late Toy Show and Kilkenny’s own Stevie Mulrooney will join Santa, Mrs Claus and all the elves for the magical ceremonial switch-on of the Christmas lights across the medieval city.

Set against the spectacular backdrop of Kilkenny Castle, the Yulefest Christmas Market features wooden stalls offering delicious seasonal treats, gorgeous handcrafted gifts and the finest local produce, alongside live music and family-friendly entertainment.

Did you know that Kilkenny is one of just nine World Craft Council Craft City and Regions in Europe, and the only one in Ireland?

The calibre of the county’s wonderful craftspeople will be on display at the annual MADE in Kilkenny Christmas pop-up shop - ideal for gifting a quality piece of Kilkenny this festive season with the likes of glassware, ceramics, textiles, jewellery and artworks.

Visitors can also look forward to a packed programme of festive events with highlights including the Medieval Mile Run, Yulefest Movie Night and the return of the popular Santa Truck, alongside festive workshops and experiences throughout the county with plenty more to be announced.

The Yulefest Music Stage boasts an incredible 38 free performances featuring the best of Kilkenny’s local talent that will build the Christmas spirit alive in the lead up to the big day.

Audiences will be treated to music, dance and circus performances from acts including Burnchurch, Lady Desart Choir, Bad Moon Blues, Hannah Hoops, Oracle Villa, Kilkenny Academy of Irish Dancing and more.

With further programme announcements to come, now is the time to save the date and start planning a festive visit to Kilkenny.
