A Kilkenny councillor is to raise concerns over staffing levels, patients on trolleys and admission waiting times at St Luke’s Hospital.

Labour councillor Seán Ó hArgáin has tabled a motion for the next meeting of Kilkenny City Municipal District, calling on the HSE and Government to address concerns being raised about the hospital.

The motion highlights ‘very high numbers of patients on trolleys during the summer months’ and months and ‘long admission waiting times as a result of bed management issues.’

“We call on the Health Service Executive to clarify these issues and on the Minister and Department of Health to immediately provide the necessary resources to allay the concerns being expressed by staff, their unions and patients and their families,” the motion read.

The matter will be discussed and voted on at next Friday’s sitting of the Kilkenny City Municipal District.
