Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating an assault over the bank holiday weekend in the city centre and are appeal for witnesses to come forward.
In the early hours of this morning gardaí received a report of an assault on Rose Inn St at 2.40am.
A man in his twenties received a punch to the face resulting in him falling and injuring his ankle.
The man was taken to St Lukes Hospital by ambulance.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who may have dash cam footage of the incident is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station.
