Garda appeal for witnesses following serious assault in Kilkenny

A suspect was arrested and is being detained at Kilkenny Garda Station

Gardaí in Kilkenny are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Kilkenny left a man with serious head injuries.

A male, in his 30s was injured during the incident. He is currently receiving treatment in Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

The investigating an assault that occurred in Weir View, Kilkenny on Sunday evening at approximately 8.40pm.

Gardaí arrested a man (aged in his 40s) in the early hours of  Monday morning. He remains detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Co. Kilkenny.

Gardaí in Kilkenny are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.

Any person who was in the area of Weir View on Sunday evening between 8pm and 9pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
