Gardaí in Kilkenny are out in force this August bank holiday weekend with numerous checkpoints in place across the city and county.
Additional gardaí were deployed in Kilkenny to man the checkpoints and the campaign kicked off on Thursday morning and runs until tomorrow (Tuesday).
Gardaí are warning people to never drive while under the influence of drink or drugs, to reduce speed and to keep a safe distance between their car and the vehicle in front of them and to be mindful of driver fatigue and not to get behind the wheel if tired.
