A man who assaulted a woman in a dispute over a dog has been convicted by Kilkenny District Court.

Michael Bray, 24 Green Street, Kilkenny, was charged with the assault of the woman on October 11, 2021.

In court the woman said there had been a dispute over a dog and it took place at the door of her apartment, in a building on High Hayes Terrace, Kilkenny.

Garda Noonan gave evidence that the woman had reported to him that Mr Bray had grabbed her by the throat and by the arm in the course of the dispute.
The woman broke free and went back into her apartment, then called the gardaí.

Mr Bray has 24 previous convictions.
Judge Geraldine Carthy (pictured, left) noted there was no appearance in court by the accused.
She convicted him in his absence and issued a bench warrant for his arrest to appear before the court at a future sitting, for sentencing.
