Kilkenny man charged with using sweeping brush as a weapon

An allegation of chasing another person into the street with a sweeping brush has resulted in a court charge of producing an article capable of causing injury during the course of a dispute.

The charge, contrary to Section 11 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, has been brought against Jason Delaney, 26 Old Callan Road, Kilkenny.

Sergeant Morgan O’Connor told the court the allegation is that on March 13 last, Mr Delaney saw someone he had a conflict with, took up the brush and chased the person into the street. No assault occurred.
The matter was adjourned for hearing, by Judge Cephas Power, to a court sitting in September.
