Gardaí spoke to the men. Mr Flynn was found in possession of a ‘small bag’ of illegal drugs and ‘a Stanley knife he said was for his own protection,’ Sergeant Morgan O’Connor told the court.
Solicitor Chris Hogan said the background to the matter was that his client was with a friend who works as a carpenter. After work they went for a drink and the Stanley knife had ‘remained in his pocket.’
At the time Mr Flynn was a ‘regular user of cocaine,’ the solicitor said. He has been ‘clean’ for a number of months.
Mr Hogan asked the court to be as lenient as possible.
Mr Flynn was in custody ‘after quite a number of appearances’ in court.
