A man showed ‘complete disregard for members of the public’ and “viciously assaulted” two passersby on a Kilkenny City centre street, a garda has alleged at the local district court.
Two people had to be brought to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny for treatment - one with a fractured hand - following an incident in Kilkenny City last Saturday afternoon.
The garda was addressing a judge as three people, two men and one woman, appeared in court charged with various offences including assault, possession of an offensive weapon, theft and dangerous driving. Scroll down to continue reading...
Maudlin Street in Kilkenny City
The court was told the clash occurred on Maudlin Street just after 2.30pm.
Kilkenny gardaí were alerted that a car had driven the wrong way down the one-way Maudlin Street and when members of the public attempted to flag down the vehicle it is alleged they were assaulted by occupants of the car.
