Gardaí have praised a local community for their quick actions which resulted in the arrest of two suspects in a rural burglary yesterday (Wednesday) evening.
A vacant house in St Mullins, close to the Kilkenny border, was targeted by opportunistic criminals at approximately 4.30pm.
Members of the local community raised the alarm with gardaí after they observed suspicious activity in the area.
Two males were arrested, one has been charged and has appeared before Carlow District Court. The second suspect is a juvenile.
"The vigilant actions of the local community resulted in the detection," said a garda spokesperson adding that it is important that people secure their properties and light up and lock up to deter any opportunistic criminals."
