"We'll be Back" - Kilkenny gardaí issue warning after city seizure

Kilkenny gardaí took swift action to intercept an e-scooter travelling at speed on the Granges Road in Kilkenny City on Monday.

The machine was subsequently seized for no insurance with court proceedings to follow.

Sharing the story on social media, local gardaí said: "We'll be Back. Arnold Schwarznegger's famous words from Terminator came to mind when we looked at the sole identifying marker on a scooter our RPU lads seized a short while ago.

"The vehicle was intercepted on the Granges Road as it bolted up the Cycle lane, faster than any traffic," the post continued.

"The machine was engineered and built by its owner and it is indeed impressive but NOT for the public road. It was seized for no insurance as a mechanically propelled vehicle requires.

"We tested the machine in two modes, one with a 100kmh limit and one with 75kmh limit. It exceeded both and demonstrated an ability to do an indicated 120kmh. Testing for prosecution purposes is up to 100kmh and it indicated that easily. Court to follow," they added.

"As they say in the Movies "Hasta la Vista Baby."
