Man convicted of theft at retail premises in Kilkenny

A man was convicted of theft after he used a debit card belonging to a person unknown to him at a garage on the outskirts of Kilkenny City.

Youness Maa, Kilkenny Inn, Vicar Street, Kilkenny was charged with three counts of theft and has appeared before Kilkenny District Court.

Sergeant Morgan O’Connor told the court that a woman who alleges that she was in Kilkenny City on May 31, 2025 was contacted by her bank on June 1, 2025 and asked about transactions at the Circle K Filling Station on the Castlecomer Road in Kilkenny.

The woman’s debit card was used seven times and a total of €188.60 was taken. The defendant was identified as the person using the card.

The defendant repaid the amount stolen in court and was convicted of one count of theft. The remaining counts were taken into consideration.
