The Roads Policing Unit of An Garda Síochana seized yet another e-scooter on the Callan Road in Kilkenny on Tuesday night.
"When stopped, the machine was a Kukirin G3 Pro. This vehicle is advertised by its distributor as having dual 1200w motors and a 65kmh top speed. When tested on the dynanometer, it achieved a speed of 62kmh," local gardaí posted to social media.
"A quick recap, the law permits e-scooters with a maximum power of 400w and a maximum speed of 20kmh. Above this, the machine is a Mechanically propelled vehicle in the eyes of the law and requires insurance.

"These vehicles cannot currently be registered or insured, and use in a Public Place is prohibited," they added.
"The user in this case will have a mandatory court appearance for no insurance and the machine was seized.
"Some manufacturers continue to ship these machines to our shores but it must be stated that they can only be used on private property with the land owner's permission and are not for the road," the post concluded.
