Gardai in Kilkenny have received numerous reports recently of fake video calls pretending to be An Garda Siochana.
In a post on Facebook, Kilkenny gardai said: "We've received a number of reports stating that people have been contacted by video call by a person or persons making out to be An Garda Síochána. This is not us, please do not engage".
The post has received over sixty comments from people who have received the scam video calls impersonating gardai as well as other scam calls from Revolut as well.
People are being warned to not engage with any scam phone calls or video calls and to report any calls to gardai.
One person commented under the post and said: "They called me with the police logo. I even told them that they were scammers but they denied, they got into my MyGov account, they said I should give them my bank account code , I said the police can never ask someone for bank details, they changed my MyGov password, immediately I cut off the call everything about the call disappeared, but thank God I have retrieved it back".
Another person said, "It comes up with the Garda logo! To an older person they would certainly believe it was the guards!".

"There is garda calls and Revolut calls going around through Google meet etc, getting wiser and wiser they are," another person said.
"I understand them ringing your phone to try scam you but now video calls and you can see them come on," another Facebook user commented.
Another comment said: "Very annoying to say the least these numbers are ringing the whole time, you block one and they ring from a different one!!".
