Kilkenny Court: ‘Careless’ driver hit car and knocked down wall

A man has been convicted of careless driving following a traffic accident outside Kilkenny City.

On March 4, 2021, at 6.15pm, gardai attended a traffic accident at Rathclough, Danesfort.

Dumitru Harton, of 166 The Laurels, Tulla Road, Carlow, was the driver of a car that had crashed into the rear of another vehicle then swerved and knocked down a wall.Mr Harton admitted he did not have insurance. He claimed to have a Romanian driving licence but did not produce it.

Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted Mr Harton of driving without insurance and fined him €300. He was disqualified from driving for two years.

For not having a driving licence Mr Harton was fined €200 and an additional fine of €700 was imposed on a conviction for careless driving.
