A Kilkenny garda has seized the same car from the same driver at the same location for the second time in just four months.

An Garda Siochána Kilkenny shared the unusual incident on social media, joking that "sequels are overrated".

This time, the driver had the vehicle insured under someone else's name, meaning it did not trigger the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system.

However, the garda recognised the car and once again seized it, with the vehicle returning to the compound.

In their online post, gardaí referenced famous film sequels including Jaws and The Godfather before adding: "The driver can attempt to explain why he believes that a driving licence and insurance are optional."
