The late Daryl Culbert (RIP)
Tributes have been paid to a former Kilkenny College student who died in the horror Carlow crash last week.
Daryl Culbert (21) from Kiltegan, Co Wicklow was a member of the Class of 2020 at the local school, where he had many friends, and where other family members attend also. Members of the school community and classmates have been extending their condolences.
Hundreds of mourners formed a guard of honour for Daryl on Monday as his coffin was carried into St Peter’s Church, Kiltegan. He was one of the three young people who died in the road traffic collision.
His father gave a moving eulogy, describing him as not just a son, but a best friend.
"Daryl was one of a kind - such a gentle, placid, solid chap," he said.
Daryl's passion in life was cars; he was a trainee mechanic and achieved success in autograss and karting competitions.
He is sadly missed by his heartbroken parents Trevor and Heather, sisters Chloe and Amy, grandmother Joan, grandad Albert, uncles Nigel, Ivan, James, Philip and David, aunts Janet, Alison, Deirdre, Nicola and Carolyn, cousins, neighbours and many friends.
