Tipperary man involved in fatal road traffic accident laid to rest

The funeral of the Tipperary man and former Kilkenny College student Kieran McCardle, who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident, took place last week.

Kieran’s funeral took place on Friday in St John the Baptist Church, Kilcash, in what was a well-attended procession.

The ceremony opened with words from the Parish Priest, who said: “When faced with tragedy, words aren’t really very effective. How do you make sense of Kieran’s tragic and untimely death? As we gather here today, we are conscious of John and Tony and Pierce and Ryan and all the family and friends. None of us can understand the sense of loss that each of you are experiencing.

He referenced the book of condolences, in particular one message which stood out to him, which he said was a beautiful tribute: “Big and strong guy with a heart of compassion that would make any parent proud.”

He mentioned that others spoke of Kieran as a man who would stand up for his friends and the underdog.

He went on to say: “Though he was taken from us too soon, yet the impact he had upon the lives of those he knew was immense.”

Kieran was laid to rest in the adjoining ceremony by family and friends.

Tributes to Kieran poured in online following his untimely passing, with one person saying: “I remember Kieran as Tyson in school. A great rugby player! So sorry to all of Tyson's family and friends on your devastating loss, thinking of you all.”

Another said: “Tyson, some unforgettable memories & laughs were had after the school days, you were an absolute gent and will be sadly missed.”
