Ollie (Olive) Woodgate (née Brophy)

The death has occurred of Ollie (Olive) Woodgate (née Brophy), 332 Mill Street, Callan, Co. Kilkenny. Peacefully, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny on Monday, July 28, 2025. Pre-deceased by her husband Thomas (Tommy) and her daughter Mary (Brett). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sorrowing family, her daughter Nelly (Australia), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, sons-in-law John and Kevin, brother-in-law Gary, nephew, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her residence, (Eircode R95 A5N9) on Thursday, July 31, from 4pm concluding with Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 7pm. Funeral arriving to The Church of the Assumption, Callan on Friday, August 1, for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial will follow afterwards in Kilbride Cemetery, Callan. Gerald Tobin

The death has occurred of Gerald Tobin, Apt 3, Cheshire Care Home, Johns Hill, Waterford, and late of Middleknock, Dublin Road, Kilkenny and Castlewarren. Gerald passed away on July 30, 2025, peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at the Oak Ward in University Hospital, Waterford. Predeceased by his loving parents Tom and Anna, sister Esther, infant brother Stephen and brother-in-law Seamus. Gerald will be sadly missed by his loving sister Elizabeth (Murphy), brother-in-law Josh, nephews and nieces Anne Marie, James, Robert, Joseph, Tommy and Mary, his friends and the staff at Cheshire Care Home especially his dedicated carers Bernie Power and Julie Doyle.

Reposing at Cheshire Care Home, Waterford (X91CKC7) on Friday, August 1, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday at 11am in St. Scuithin's Church, Castlewarren, Co. Kilkenny (R95NX37). Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to Waterford Hospice. DONATIONS 

Baby John Myles Ned Delaney

The death has occurred of baby John Myles Ned Delaney, Old Town, Ballyragget, Kilkenny. Beloved baby son of Pat and Elizabeth (Queenie) and brother of Roy. Baby John will be very sadly missed by his father, mother, brother, grand-parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Mass of the Angels will take place on Thursday, July 31, 2025 in St. Mary's Cathedral Kilkenny at 11am followed by Burial in St. Kieran's Cemetery.

David Kirwan

The death has occurred of David Kirwan, Newpark Close and formerly of Jacob Street, Kilkenny City, peacefully at his home on  July 29, 2025 surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Predeceased by his mother Anne and father Maurice, brother Kevin and infant brother Martin. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sisters and brother, Siobhan, Loretto, Annette, Frances, Monica, Catherine, Helen and Maurice. David will be forever missed by his nephews Mark, Cathal and all his other nieces and nephews, extended family, good neighbours, wide circle of friends and his beloved pet Scrappy.

David will repose at Shasby’s Funeral Home Kilkenny City on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm with rosary and vigil prayers at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 1, at 10.30am in St. John’s Church, followed by burial in St. Kieran’s Cemetery. The Requiem Mass will be live streamed here. Family flowers only please. The funeral cortége will walk from David’s residence Newpark Close on Friday at 10am to St. John’s Church. House private please.

Mary Meany (née Kerwick)

The death has occurred of Mary Meany (née Kerwick), Cellarstown, Kilkenny, and formerly of Corstown Kilmanagh, Co. Kilkenny. Mary passed away on July 29, 2025, peacefully, surrounded by her family and in the wonderful care of the staff in the Barrow Ward at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny. Predeceased by her husband Pat, her infant son Patrick, her parents Philip and Bridget Kerwick and her brother Joe. Beloved mother of John, Josephine, Patricia (Patsy), Brigid, Marie, Philip and Liam. Mary will be deeply missed by her heartbroken family, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law and partners, sister Ella, her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, neighbours, friends and all at the Alzheimer Day Centre and Side by Side Club.

Requiem Mass on Thursday at 10.30am in St. John’s Church, Kilkenny. Funeral afterwards to St. Kieran's Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to the Kilkenny branches of the St. Vincent de Paul (St John’s) and Alzheimer Day Centre. Donation box in funeral home and church. Teresa Holohan (née Nugent)

The death has occurred of Teresa Holohan (née Nugent), Ballybur, Cuffesgrange, Co. Kilkenny. Teresa passed away on July 29,  2025, peacefully, surrounded by her family at St. Luke's Hospital Kilkenny. Predeceased by her daughter Debbie. Beloved wife of Jack and much loved mother of Trevor and Liz (Ryan). Teresa will be sadly missed by her loving family, her grandchildren Shauna, Heather, Rachel, Jim, Jack, Steven and Shane, great grandchildren Fiach and Éala, brother Paddy, son-in-law Jim, nieces, nephew's, extended family and friends.

Reposing at her home in Cuffesgrange (R95X024) on Thursday, July 31, from 4pm with Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Friday at 11am in the Church of the Holy Cross, Cuffesgrange. Mary Geoghegan (née Dowling)

The death has occurred of Mary Geoghegan (née Dowling), Monemore, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow, formerly of Lyrath, Dublin Road, Kilkenny. Mary passed away suddenly on July 27, 2025. Pre-deceased by her sister Eileen O'Neill. Mary will be deeply missed by her loving husband Michael (Bunter), daughters Pauline, Claire and Grainne, sons-in-law Wayne, Mark and Brendan, grandchildren Gavin, Rachel, Tadhg, Cian, Niall, Jenny and Mikey, sisters Kathleen, and Bridget, brothers John and Pat, and her brothers and sister-in-law. Mary will also be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, extended family, neighbours, friends and all who knew her.

Reposing in Somers Funeral Home, Bagenalstown (R21 DY66) on Thursday from 2pm. Concluding with Funeral Prayers at 7pm. Removal from her residence on Friday morning arriving at St. Andrew's Church, Bagenalstown for Funeral Mass at 11.am. Burial afterwards in The Cemetery of the Assumption. House strictly private on Thursday night and Friday morning please. Mary's funeral Cortege will walk to the Vocational School (Coláiste Aindriú) and drive to the Cemetery from there.

Linda O'Keeffe

The death has occurred of Linda O'Keeffe, Mullinoly, Mullinahone, Tipperary / Kilkenny City, Kilkenny. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Linda O'Keeffe Roseville, Callan Road, Kilkenny / Mullinoly, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary July 28, 2025 peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Roseville (Auora) surrounded by her loving family. Pre-deceased by her father Tom brother Eamon and nephew Thomas. Deeply regretted by her loving mother Josie, sisters Miriam, Carmel and Sandra brothers-in-law Noel, Michael and Noel nieces Ciara, Orla, Lucy and Eimear nephews Darragh, Donnacha, Ollie and Aidan aunts, uncles, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Requiem Mass on Thursday, July 31, in St Michael's Church, Mullinahone at 12 noon followed by burial afterwards in St Michael's Cemetery, Killaghy, Mullinahone. Peggy Roche

The death has occurred of Peggy Roche, Isle of Man, UK and formerly of Mellow’s Park, Callan, Co. Kilkenny. Peacefully, at Noble’s Hospital, Isle of Man on Thursday,  June 19, 2025. Pre-deceased by her husband John Philips, her parents Molly and Paul and her brothers Dick, Johnny and Michael. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving family, her sons Brendan and John, her daughters Marie, Kathleen and Paula, brothers Paddy, Seamus, Liam and Paul, sisters Tessie, Kitty, Ellen, Nan, Beryl and Patsy, sons-in-law Tony and Stephen, daughter-in-law Gabby, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

A Memorial Mass will take place in The Church of the Assumption, Callan on Thursday, July 31, at 11am. Burial of Ashes will follow afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Green Street, Callan. The Requiem Mass can be viewed live on the following link; churchmedia.ie (Callan Parish).
